Twinning

Plouzané is twinned with 4 towns in Europe. A committee promotes and coordinates friendly exchanges between Plouzané and these 4 towns by maintaining contacts and exchanges of a cultural, family, educational, sporting or economic nature.

Twin towns

Plouzané’s town twinning arrangements are:

  • Since 1982 with Kilrush, in the south-west of Ireland. St Sané or Senán, a 5th-century Irish monk and founder of the parish of Plouzané, was originally from Kilrush and is buried on the Isle of Scattery.
  • Since 1991 with Stelle, located in the north of Germany, in Niedersachsen.
  • Since 1996 with Pencoed, located in South Wales, west of Cardiff.
  • And finally, since 2003, with Ceccano , located around a hundred kilometres south of Rome.

Since 1999, an agreement has formalised the partnership between the town council and OPEP. The Twinning Committee’s mission is to promote and coordinate friendly exchanges between Plouzané and its European twin towns by maintaining contacts and exchanges of a cultural, family, educational, sporting or economic nature.
It organises meetings, visits and stays in a spirit of understanding and solidarity. Exchanges are hosted by families. The committee supports all initiatives that promote peace and bring people together.
